The Breast Cancer Society, Inc. Charity Marathon will begin July 30, 2010 at 3 PM (EDT/GMT-4) on Justin.tv and will be hosted by Multitap Gaming Network (commonly referred to as MGN or MTG). Justin.tv allows users to view and broadcast live streaming media.
MGN will stream a variety of video games for duration of 30 hours. We ask that our viewers change their Chat Color to pink under Options with the Settings tab (represented by a wheel icon) to participate.
Breast cancer is the second most common type of non-skin cancer. It is more common in women than in men, and is the fifth most common cause of death from cancer worldwide.
If recognized early breast cancer has a higher success rate of being treatable. Surgery is a common treatment and can be used in conjunction with radiation therapy to prevent reoccurrence. Therefore it is important to know the symptoms of breast cancer and monthly self-examinations are recommended.
A common noticeable symptom of breast cancer is an abnormal lump of tissue in the breast. Most breast cancer cases are discovered from it, with the earliest detected by mammograms.
All proceeds go to the Breast Cancer Society, Inc. (TBSC). TBSC is one of the only national breast cancer charities in the United States with a primary focus on providing direct help and financial aid to those suffering with breast cancer. Additionally, TBSC assist in the education and support of breast cancer research. TBSC also maintains an extensive program of procuring medicines, care items, and medical supplies. Such commodities are sent around the world to impoverished or developing countries.
